Yemeni writer and activist Malik Al-Madani presented a scathing critique of the U.S. elections, suggesting that the American political system offers only a “single meal,” repeated regardless of the faces or parties competing. In his article, Al-Madani likened American politics to a restaurant offering superficial choices without any real substance, arguing that voters lack genuine freedom in selecting their president, as the same approach is repeated regardless of whether a Democrat or a Republican is elected.

Al-Madani wrote: “The United States is a big restaurant offering just one meal! Yet the waiter keeps asking, ‘What would you like for lunch, sir?’” This statement serves as a symbolic reference to politicians who appear different on the surface but, in essence, deliver the same policies.

Describing the impact of elections on American policy, Al-Madani stated: “Forty-seven presidents have resided in the White House; forty-seven, and their policies have never changed! Yet you still expect a different meal on the plate!” He highlights that U.S. policies have remained consistent across successive presidents.

Al-Madani sees elections as a means of keeping the public under the illusion of choice, adding, “Sheep do not choose their shepherd… Sheep only choose their guard dog!” This remark points to a system that keeps real power in the hands of a few behind the scenes, while offering the public a superficial freedom that doesn’t affect the outcome.

In closing, Al-Madani urges readers to stop “arguing with the waiter” and to realize that “true change does not come from swapping faces in the White House, but from changing the chef himself.”

 the article:

“The United States is a big restaurant offering just one meal! Yet the waiter keeps asking:
‘What would you like for lunch, sir?’
Serve your lousy meal and leave; that’s all I want!
Harris… Trump… Democrat… Republican…
A spinach-and-egg sandwich… or an egg-and-spinach sandwich—what’s the difference?!
You can’t choose between the same thing!
Your long menu has only one dish!!
And by the way, it tastes bad and is expensive too!
So just serve it and stop the pretense and nonsense!
Do you fools think this world is a place that gives its inhabitants the luxury of choice?!
Do you think an ugly global system like this will allow you to mess with its pillars?!
You’re that foolish, huh!
Believing you have a say… waiting, analyzing, predicting, anticipating, participating!

Do you know the problem with elections?!
The majority!
And do you know the problem with the majority?!
They’re fools!!
And if anyone would entrust their fate to a fool, it certainly won’t be the United States!!
This world does not determine who leads it; this may be a new reality for you!!
Your freedom ends at the guard dog elections, not at presidential ones!
Sheep don’t choose their shepherd; sheep only choose their guard dog!
Do you prefer the Caucasian or the Mastiff, the strong or the smart—this is all you have… and all you have doesn’t matter!
What matters is that you will be slaughtered!!

So here’s a fact for you…
The United States is not a personal decision or a man’s whim!
You are facing a thought, a project, a system, run in the shadows!
They present you with the devil and its mirror image, and ask you to choose!
Forty-seven presidents have lived in the White House;
forty-seven, and their policies have never changed!
Yet you still expect a different meal on the plate!
It’s not going to happen!
Not while you’re at the table, arguing with the waiter!
Do you want a steak or a plate of falafel?!
You need to break into the kitchen and change the chef himself… no?!
Then eat your lunch in silence!”
